What You Need

Before you start, make sure you have the following things:

  • A copy of Battle for Middle-earth II and Rise of the Witch King installed on your computer. You can download them from here if you don't have them.

  • A software to mount a virtual drive, such as WinCDEmu, Daemon Tools Lite, or Alcohol 52%. This will allow you to create a virtual DVD drive on your computer and mount an image file that simulates a physical disc.

  • The No-CD files for Rise of the Witch King 2.02, which you can find here. These files include a .mdf and a .mds file that contain the data of the game disc.

  • The official patches for Rise of the Witch King, which you can download from here (version 2.01) and here (version 2.02).

  • An Options.ini file that sets your screen resolution and other preferences for the game. You can download it from here and edit it according to your needs.

Installation Steps

Once you have everything ready, follow these steps to install and run Rise of the Witch King 2.02 without a CD:

  • Patch your Battle for Middle-earth II game to version 1.06 using the Patch Switcher. This is necessary for Rise of the Witch King to work properly.

  • Patch your Rise of the Witch King game to version 2.01 using the official patch downloaded earlier.

  • Patch your Rise of the Witch King game to version 2.02 using the official patch downloaded earlier.

  • Mount the Nocd.mdf file using your virtual drive software. For example, with WinCDEmu, you can just double-click the file and click OK. With other software, you may need to open the software and find the option to mount the file to a new drive.

Copy the Options.ini file to your %appdata% folder. To do this, click Start and type %appdata% in the search box. This will open a folder called C:\\Users\\username\\AppData\\Roaming in Windows Explorer. Find or create a folder called My The Lord of the Rings, e0e6b7cb5c
